I'm Back!

Hey, everyone! I'm finally able to have time to sit down and blog again (insert happy dance!!). I'm finally settled in and loving life here at College of Charleston! These past two weeks here have been quite interesting, to say the least, but still going really well. Since I haven't blogged since I was in California last, I'll give you guys a mini update of what I've been up to!

Back track to August 11th, I said bye to all of my friends, family, and co-workers back in LA. It was actually really hard to say bye to everyone since it didn't really feel real yet. I keep on referring to it as I'm going away on vacation and just trying to explore a new city! This is what I'm telling my self since I'm trying to refrain myself from getting homesick this early in the year. I definitely had those moments though within the first week when my roommate was at a leadership camp. I didn't really cry necessarily but I definitely realized that I was now on my own. I definitely have been trying to keep myself positive and busy to avoid getting those homesick blues, but I know eventually it will happen. I am however have been keeping my self to look forward to the things to come and see my family! My cousin is visiting me in the middle of October and I cannot wait to show her around the city! And as for Thanksgiving, I'm going to be leaving school a week early due to a family event and has been getting me really excited to see them.

As for classes, they have been really good so far! All of my teachers seem really nice and interactive and have some really fun things planned. I would say that my favorite class so far is my Women's and Gender Studies class that is a Freshman year experience course that is combined with Psychology. The two teachers are practically best friends so it's really interesting to hear what they have to say and have it tie in all together.

Dorm life has been treating me pretty good so far! I'm trying to keep it as clean and tidy as I can which has been surprisingly keeping me focused when I work. I do have some finishing touches to add to my room, but the minute I am done with it, I will most definitely share it with y'all!

That's all I have to share with y'all! I'm going to be posting at least two to three times a week during college, so keep your eyes posted! My next blog post will be a reader survey so I can get a better sense of what you guys like to read so please make sure to let me know!

Summer Favorites

As some of you know, I really wanted to try different things this summer. From anything from hair products to my newest pencil obsession, I wanted to try anything and everything I could get my hands on and afford within my budget. A few of y'all asked on Instagram for a roundup of my favorites, so you ask and shall receive!

Passion Planner - This summer this planner has been my lifesaver. I have been using to so much for my goals and what I want to accomplish. I haven't been using it as intensely as I would in the school year but definitely have been active within it. I transitioned to this planner for my college school year. I originally thought it would be a problem since it's updated but I actually love it! Makes me feel less bad when I skip a week.

Madeline & Company Slim Backpack - I talked all about my love for my Madeline & Company backpack on yesterday's blog post, but I had to add it to today's! It's practically perfect for everyday use and goes so well with my outfits every day. I love the compactness and design of the slim backpack and can't complain!

Glossier Sunscreen - Skincare was my main thing to try experimenting with for the summer. I don't wear any makeup and really like to take care of my skin. I've been using lots of products with SPF but nothing specifically for it. I looked and looked for a sunscreen that wouldn't leave my face caked on with white streaks and smelling like the beach. When I read the reviews for the Glossier Sunscreen I jumped for it instantly. The consistency is amazing and leaves your face just as moisturized as any other cream would.

Apple iPhone Silicone Phone Case - Phone cases are always a struggle for me. I always end up busting one or cracking my phone in them. I've always liked the way the Apple iPhone cases look on them. Super sleek and simple, just the way I like it. It took me quite a while to finally decide on what color I wanted for my iPhone and ended up choosing this baby pink case.

Pink Jack Purcells - In my early middle school years, Converse were literally the only shoes I had. They went with practically everything and were super easy going. Once getting into high school and I started creating my style, I found that Jack Purcells were really for me. I have the white ones but I was considering getting either the light blue or black ones to add to my collection. When I went to Nordstroms to try them on, I was instantly in love with these pink ones! They are pretty new but are so gorgeous I couldn't pass it up!

Headspace - If you follow me on Twitter, you most likely already know how much I love Headspace. I used it back in May for a day or two and fell out of it. It's actually kinda hard to find some peacefulness to do the meditation without being disrupted. In July I ended up trying to get back into the groove. Let's just say that I ended up buying the yearly package on the spot after my third day of meditation...

Cuyana Wallet - This was my graduation gift to me. During the spring I got so sick of my Kate Spade wallet and how I couldn't find anything original. I felt that everyone and their mothers had a Kate Spade wallet and I truly wanted something different. I wanted something a bit smaller but still simple. I opted for this beautiful Cuyana wallet with a gold monogram. I couldn't be more happy with my purchase!

My Back to School Backpack Pick - Madeline & Company

Preparing for college lately has been kinda hard yet super fun. It kinda becomes difficult in the sense of trying to organize all of the big changes from living with your parents and everything is taken care of, to do it all on your own. These past few weeks since I went to orientation and I’ve created my main personal and school goals that I want to accomplish within this fall semester. As I’m doing that, I have been trying to rally up all of the items that I might possibly ever need when it comes to school so I can focus more better. My biggest thing - backpack.

I was that super annoying kid in elementary and middle school that would constantly switch out their folders, notebooks, and even backpacks for something new and better. It was almost in a way of a form of OCD where I would constantly want it clean and better than before. Through out those times I was trying to find out myself and what I liked, and when it came to backpacks, I never could do that. Purchasing a backpack used to be so different for me when I was young since I didn't like what was out there. When I heard about Madeline & Company the summer going into my Junior Year, I was obsessed. Madeline had the exact same problem when trying to find a backpack she liked instead of all of the generic ones that everyone had. Back then she created her original backpack and I had to purchase it! I've used that backpack for the longest time now and I can't wait to use it when going college. She recently came out with the slim backpack and I literally couldn't be more in love with it! Both are such great buys for the school year that I truly vouch for them.

On Instagram when I post about Madeline & Company backpacks, I usually get the same questions regarding certain things of them. I decided to create this post on the main things I get asked about and all chatting on what about it I love. If you're curious what colors I have in both styles, I have this classic and this slim backpack.

(P.S - Check out my latest Instagram post for a Giveaway for one of them!)

Is it easy to use in everyday life? Or just for school? - The style of both the classic and slim backpacks are so easy to pair with school and functionality. I use both of my bags for workouts, traveling, photo shoots, and of course school.

How well does it match with your outfits? - The colors that are on the bags really go well with my everyday style. I wear pretty basic clothing and nothing extravagant to class so this makes it perfect when pairing with outfits.

Is it durable? - These bags hold A LOT! My classic backpack was 90% of the time filled to the brim since I didn't have a locker my junior and senior year of high school. My backpack had everything I might have possibly needed and still wasn't too heavy weight wise. I will say that my only regret with getting the classic was that since I got the white, It got very very dirty quickly. I make it a ritual that every summer I get it cleaned at the dry-cleaners just to spruce it up. As for the new slim backpack, it's made with even better material.

Which size should I get? - My most asked question and toughest to pick. I personally started off with the classic which fit my life perfectly with school and traveling. But towards the end of senior year, I noticed that my bag started to get less and less empty of items, making it a little silly to be carrying around such a big bag. When Madeline came out with the slim backpack, I was so excited. I know that in college I won't be needing and massive bags since I can go back to my dorm, but I still needed something with the same organization as the Classic.

Eyelet in Balboa Island

Got to cross off another place off my LA bucket list - Balboa Island! This little island is tucked away in Newport Beach and has been something that I have always wanted to visit. It's a pretty small island with only about one main street. Within the main street, everyone is walking and shopping within this cute little town. Not to mention that the houses are adorable and we couldn't pass up the opportunity for a photo shoot!

The weather here has been a bit on the colder side and not so much sunny. I usually opt for jeans and a cute top. I knew we would be walking around a lot so I wore my new Jack Purcell Baby Pink sneakers that I am in love with along with my Longchamp.
